Choosing the right inspector can be a difficult task.  There are no two inspectors or inspections that are the same.  Currently, there are no licensing or qualification requirements in the state of Florida. Simply put, anyone with a flashlight can be an inspector.  Being effective and competent requires more than owning a few tools or paying membership dues and taking an online ethics test to join an organization.  It requires a keen eye and intimate knowledge of the building process and how one system relies on another; because a simple failure in one system can quickly “snowball” into a much larger problem.
Becoming a home inspector was a natural progression for me.  My construction career began at the age of 18.  I’ve done everything from slab work to roofing and all of the jobs in between.  I have renovated and restored all styles of existing homes and even constructed new homes.  Currently, my own home is on the historical registry.  It is a Mediterranean style home constructed in 1931 and I have spent the last two years restoring it room-by-room.s
I am certified by ITA (Inspection Training Associates), the largest and the most stringent home inspection training available, completing the course with an overall grade point of 94%.  I undergo continuous specialty training each year to familiarize myself with the newest practices and systems for residential and commercial properties.  I am also a PaRR (Partnership for Response and Recovery) associate, doing sub-contract work for FEMA when disasters occur.  In addition, I have taken and passed the national home inspection exam that is currently required for licensing in 22 states.
